Hi, I’m Emanuelito (Eman) Tomas, a Registered Nurse and Mental Health Therapist. I’m passionate about creating a space where people feel safe, supported, and genuinely understood—especially during the moments in life that feel overwhelming, painful, or uncertain.
I am a Registered Nurse (RN) licensed with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta and the BC College of Nurses and Midwives.
I also hold national certification in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing (CPMHN(C)) through the Canadian Nurses Association, recognizing advanced knowledge and expertise in psychiatric and mental health.
I also have specialized training in crisis intervention and suicide prevention, including a Crisis Specialist Certification (CSC) from the American Association of Suicidology.
Over the past seven years, I’ve had the privilege of supporting people through some of the most difficult periods of their lives in both addiction and mental health settings. My work has included helping individuals navigate emotional crises, suicidal thoughts, recovery, major life transitions, and the everyday struggles that can make life feel heavy.
What I have learned through this work is that healing rarely begins with having all the answers. More often, it begins with having a space where you can be honest about what you’re carrying and feel accepted exactly as you are.
I strive to offer that kind of space—a warm, compassionate, and non-judgmental environment where you can talk openly about your experiences, make sense of difficult emotions, and begin moving toward the life you want for yourself.
Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, emotional overwhelm, life transitions, or thoughts of suicide, my goal is to meet you where you are and walk alongside you through the process. You don’t have to have the right words, and you don’t need to have everything figured out before coming to therapy.
I believe people are far more resilient than they often give themselves credit for. Sometimes, we simply need support, guidance, and a safe place to reconnect with our strengths.
My Approach to Therapy
My approach to therapy is collaborative, practical, and tailored to your unique needs. I draw from evidence-based approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Supportive Psychotherapy.
Rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach, we will work together to find what feels most helpful for you.
Some sessions may focus on developing practical coping strategies and emotional regulation skills, while others may involve exploring patterns, experiences, and beliefs that are contributing to your current struggles.
I may offer tools, exercises, resources, or reflections between sessions to help you apply what you’re learning in therapy to your everyday life. My role is to help you develop skills and insights that continue supporting you long after our sessions.
As a Registered Nurse, I practice within a professional code of ethics grounded in integrity, respect, accountability, and confidentiality. I deeply value diversity and recognize that each person’s culture, identity, experiences, and beliefs shape how they understand themselves and the world around them. My commitment is to provide an inclusive, affirming space where you feel respected and valued for who you are.
Above all, I want therapy to feel like a place where you can exhale—a place where you can bring the parts of yourself that are struggling, hurting, uncertain, or hopeful, and know that you won’t have to face them alone.
